Festivals, conferences, public events – and more

CAT has organised a range of successful public events.
Newham’s Refugee Week 2005, organised by CAT Co-ordinator Gary Hewett, attracted over 1,500 people. There was a wide range of children’s activities, ten bands from different countries played throughout the afternoon and more than 1,000 people ate food from around the world – all free of charge!
In 2006, CAT is co-ordinating a Summer Programme of activities throughout the holidays for 8 – 13 year olds in Waltham Forest, including football, cricket, drama, music, netball, dance, skateboarding, pool, table tennis, art, gymnastics, fashion design, jewellery making, computer skills, basketball, swimming – and even pond dipping – all free of charge!
“The Festival showed what a positive contribution refugee communities make to Newham”.
